The Townsville Snappa Heads Triathlon Club was developed to promote and foster the sport of triathlon in a fun, relaxed atmosphere.

During the clubs existence members of all levels and experience enjoyed and embraced the benefits of the positive, supportive and friendly training environment we prided ourselves on.

SNAPPA HEADS TRI CLUB WILL BE MERGING WITH THE TOWNSVILLE TRI CLUB EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY 
 
 
Over the last 8 years, the Snappa Heads Tri Club has had great support from the Triathlon community. We have seen many people (including myself) join as "Newbies" and go on to achieve many of their triathlon goals from sprint distance through to Ironman.
 
The club has brought together a lot of like minded people, helping them to enjoy the sport and make friends.
 
Unfortunately due to members leaving town, giving up the sport, or simply having too many family commitments, the club has drifted away from the close knit and social group it was. The heart of the club was always the group activities such as the Sunday rides and Swim sessions. These sessions were an opportunity for members to socialise and enjoy each others company.
 
Over the last year or two, attendance at these sessions has become almost non-existent. As triathlon is in essence an individual sport, we understand that these sessions may not suit everyone. Many members have family commitments and have to fit training in when they can.
 
With very limited attendance and social participation from our members, there is no real reason to continue with two clubs in Townsville. 
 
The last few years, the committees have tried various initiatives to engage members and encourage participation without success. 
 
Originally, options were discussed about closing both clubs down and forming a new club. We have chosen a less complicated option. It is easier to close one club and use the existing committee and infrastructure of the existing Townsville club. The committee will be winding up Snappa Heads Tri Club.   
 
All of the Snappa gear and trailer have been distributed to the Townsville Club.
 
I would like to thank everyone that has been part of Snappas over the last 8 years.
